The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has announced recruitment for Forest Ranger posts under the Environment & Forests Department, Government of Assam via Advt. No. 22/2025. A total of 50 vacancies are available. Eligible candidates can apply online from 21st June 2025 to 20th July 2025.

💸 Pay Scale
- Pay Scale: ₹22,000 – ₹97,000/-
- Grade Pay: ₹10,300/-
- Pay Band: PB-3 + other admissible allowances
📚 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering in one of the following: Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Applications/Science, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Agriculture, Computer), Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Veterinary Science, Zoology.
Other Eligibility
- Nationality: Indian citizen.
- Domicile: Permanent resident of Assam (upload PRC or Employment Exchange Registration).
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025)
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 38 years
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST(P)/ST(H) – 5 years (up to 43 years), OBC/MOBC – 3 years (up to 41 years).

📝 Selection Process
- Written Examination (600 Marks):
- English: 100 Marks (3 hrs)
- General Knowledge: 100 Marks (2 hrs)
- Optional Subject I: 200 Marks (2 hrs)
- Optional Subject II: 200 Marks (2 hrs)
- Choose two subjects: Agriculture, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Forestry, etc.
- Walking Test:
- Male: 25 km in 4 hrs
- Female: 16 km in 4 hrs
- Medical Examination
- Viva-Voce / Interview: 75 Marks
🎓 Training After Selection
- Duration: 18 months at a Forest Training College.
- Salary: Paid during training.
- Bond: ₹6,00,000/- + ₹6,000/- caution money.
- Certification: Certificate in Forestry, followed by appointment as Forest Ranger.
