The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Competitive (Main) Exam 2024. If you qualify in the Prelims, it’s time to prepare for the Mains. Here you will find all key information including dates, application process, fees, and full syllabus.

📚 Syllabus for APSC CCE (Main) 2024:

Paper 1: Essay (250 Marks)

Candidates will be required to write one essay from a choice of topics in the language of their choice.

Paper 2: General Studies I

This paper includes Indian culture covering art, literature and architecture.
It includes modern Indian history from the mid-18th century to the present.
The freedom struggle, post-independence consolidation, and reorganization of states are part of the syllabus.
Topics also include Indian society, women’s issues, urbanization, social empowerment, and the impact of globalization.
It covers geography including distribution of resources, industrial location, physical features, and geophysical phenomena like earthquakes and volcanoes.

Paper 3: General Studies II

This paper includes the Indian Constitution, its features, amendments, and provisions.
It includes responsibilities of the Union and States, powers of government bodies, and comparison with other countries.
It covers Parliament, Judiciary, Executive, pressure groups, Representation of People’s Act, and constitutional posts.
The syllabus also includes quasi-judicial bodies, NGOs, SHGs, welfare schemes, and social sector initiatives.
Issues in governance, health, education, and human resources are also covered.

Paper 4: General Studies III

This paper includes topics related to Indian economy, growth, budgeting, and development.
It covers agriculture, public distribution, food processing, and liberalization.
Infrastructure topics include energy, roads, airports, and railways.
It includes science and technology developments, IT, robotics, biotechnology, and space technology.
Topics such as disaster management, environmental conservation, internal security, and challenges to national security are also part of the paper.

Paper 5: General Studies IV

This paper tests ethics, integrity, and aptitude.
Topics include ethics in human actions, values from leaders and philosophers, and moral attitude.
It includes emotional intelligence, probity in governance, and philosophical basis of governance.
Candidates may be tested through case studies on ethical dilemmas, public service issues, and governance challenges.

Paper 6: General Studies on Assam

This paper includes Assam’s history, culture, literature, traditions, and major landmarks.
It covers geography including climate, forests, natural resources, and biodiversity.
Political and administrative topics include roles of Governor, Chief Minister, State Assembly, and commissions.
The economy section includes agriculture, development, planning, and welfare schemes.
Topics also include disaster management and environmental concerns with special reference to Assam.

Candidates must read the official guidelines before filling the form.
Same photo as in the Prelims must be used.
No admit card will be sent by post. It must be downloaded from the official website.
The exam centre will be Guwahati only.
Admit cards will be available from 20 September 2025.
