Assam May Pay ₹12,500 Crore for Unused Power to Adani Group
The BJP-led government of Assam has reportedly agreed to compensate the Adani Group for surplus coal-based power that the state may not be able to utilize, according to reports. The arrangement could result in payments exceeding ₹12,500 crore over the next five years for unconsumed electricity.
Under the agreement, Assam has committed to purchasing 3,200 MW of coal-based power in phases starting from 2030, even if actual demand falls short.
