BJP MP Calls for Basic Income for Women for Household Work
Radha Mohan Agrawal, a Member of Parliament from the Bharatiya Janata Party, has urged the central government to introduce a minimum basic income for women in recognition of their unpaid household work.
Agrawal highlighted that many women wake up early, manage household chores, and take care of the entire family every day. He noted that if families had to hire people to perform the same tasks, it would cost roughly ₹20,000 to ₹25,000 per month.
He further added that, on average, a woman spends about 432 minutes daily doing unpaid work at home, stressing the need to acknowledge and support their contribution.
