The family of late cricket legend Shane Warne is expected to receive nearly ₹450 crore from the sale of Rajasthan Royals, which has been valued at ₹15,300 crore.
This payout is linked to a special clause in Warne’s 2008 contract, which granted him a 0.75% ownership stake in the franchise for each season he played. Having played four seasons, he accumulated a total 3% stake in the team.
With the franchise now being sold, the value of that 3% stake translates into a significant payout for his family. However, the amount will only be realised after the Board of Control for Cricket in India approves the sale, expected after IPL 2026.
