 Raghav Chadha Proposes Joint ITR Filing for Couples

Raghav Chadha has advocated for the introduction of joint income tax return (ITR) filing for married couples, highlighting how income distribution affects tax liability. He explained that two individuals earning ₹10 lakh each may pay no tax, whereas a single earner making ₹20 lakh could be liable to pay around ₹1.92 lakh in taxes, even if their spouse is a homemaker.

Adding a light remark, he joked that such a policy could encourage more people to get married in order to take advantage of the tax benefits.
