India’s cheetah population has increased to 53 after a female Namibian cheetah named Jwala gave birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park.

With the new births, the total number of cheetah cubs born in India has reached 33. Jwala has now become a mother for the third time, marking another milestone in the country’s cheetah reintroduction programme.

Earlier, additional cheetahs were brought from Botswana, including six females and three males, to strengthen the population under Project Cheetah.
