Instagram has announced that it will discontinue end-to-end encrypted messaging starting May 8. Once this feature is removed, its parent company Meta Platforms will be able to access user chats that were previously protected by encryption.

The platform also stated that users will be given guidance on how to download any messages, photos, or other media they wish to keep before the encrypted messaging feature is turned off.
