Oil Tanker Paid Over ₹18 Crore to Iran for Safe Passage Through Strait of Hormuz
Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, a report by Lloyd's List claims that an oil tanker paid around $2 million (over ₹18 crore) to Iran for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the report, Iran has introduced a “safe corridor” that directs ships through its territorial waters to avoid potential threats during the ongoing conflict. Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has reportedly set up a registration system to allow only “approved” vessels to pass through this route.
This development highlights rising security concerns and the increasing cost of maritime trade in one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints.
