Written Examination (Conventional and OMR based)
for Direct Recruitment to the post of
Class-I (Junior Grade) Home Guards in Assam Home Guards Services
Under Home and Political Department
(Advt. No. 02/2026 dated 5th May, 2026)

Exam Pattern & Important Information:
  • Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence Test (OMR based MCQ Type) — 2 Hours | 200 Marks
  • Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (Conventional Type) — 3 Hours | 200 Marks
  • Total Marks: 400
  • Qualifying marks for both Paper-I & Paper-II: 33% (i.e., 66 marks out of 200)
  • Paper-II answer booklets will be evaluated only if candidate secures 33% in Paper-I
  • Final merit list based on marks of both papers (only candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in both papers)
  • Candidates shortlisted for Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency & Standards Tests will be notified after merit list compilation

PAPER - I
General Ability and Intelligence Test
(OMR based MCQ Type)

Time: 2 Hours     Marks: 200

Part Details
PART – A One essay to be answered in Assamese or English.
Marks: 80
Word limit: 1000 words

Topics: Modern Indian History especially of Freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues and analytical ability etc.
PART – B Comprehension, Précis writing, other communication / language skills – to be attempted in English only.
Marks: 120

Topics: Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammar and other aspects of language testing.
